1979 Seiko 6309-7149 Automatic Day/Date “Field Watch”

1979 Seiko 6309-7149 Automatic Day/Date “Field Watch”

$285.00

For those looking to enter the vintage arena at an affordable level without compromising on quality, this 6309 “Field Watch” from October of ‘79 is the perfect jumping off point. It boasts a matte black dial with subtle texture, and large luminous markers in bright white. The hour and minute hands are polished and beveled batons with white striping through the center, and the slender sweep has a rectangular luminous window near the tip. The shared day and date window in black is seamless and well balanced, and the day can be toggled between English and French. The case is a comfortable 35.5mm with short, tapered lugs, and a contoured beveled edge. On top is a low profile bezel, and the case back is a secure screw down. Sharing a movement with the venerable “Turtle” diver, it houses the workhorse 6309 self-winder with independent day and date quickset via the crown. A robust and reliable movement, it’s keeping near perfect time post service, and a ready companion in the field. It’s unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and we’ve paired it with a fully stitched dark gray canvas for breathable comfort on the wrist. A true standout, this field watch is as ready for adventure as you are, and bound to be your new ‘go to’ for the weekend.
