When is comes to dial layout, few can top the crisp contrast of a clean and understated Arabic format. Typically associated with military purposes, they are highly legible, and often minimalist timepieces that offer classic style and timeless design. This “Field Watch” from Seiko’s Daini division is a perfect example. Produced in October of ‘77, it features a silver sunburst dial with a glossy lacquered finish on which are printed large black Arabic numerals in a clean modern font. At the three o’clock position is a framed day/date window, both of which can be quickset via the crown; pressing inward to advance the day, and rotating counter-clockwise in the second position for the date. The case architecture is classic Seiko with smooth lines, sharp angles, and a contoured curvature that provides great comfort on the wrist. It’s unpolished and completely original, including the hand polished acrylic crystal. In keeping with its casual demeanor, we’ve paired it with a navy blue, two-piece RAF NATO for an easy and comfortable fit and finish. At 37mm, it offers versatility and plenty of eye catching presence. A classic vintage affordable that’s sure to be a fast weekend favorite.
