1990 Seiko 7002-7009 150m Sport Diver

1990 Seiko 7002-7009 150m Sport Diver

$0.00

As production of the 6309 ended in 1988, Seiko introduced it’s next generation of 150m Sport Divers by way of the 7002. It is the direct predecessor to the SKX line of today, and owning one can feel like the perfect blend of old and new. This example from May of ‘90 represents the first generation of the 7002 and shares many similarities with the final 6309 production models. The case is unpolished, and shows minimal wear. It’s original finishes and bevels are still sharp, and the bezel insert shows no fading or paint loss, though some scratching can be seen throughout. The dial is perfect. It’s matte black with rectangular markers at every hour except the 12. There, two opposing triangles meet at a point just above the silver SEIKO logo. The luminous material, in this case promethium, has developed a silvery green patina that is distinct to these models. The hands are recognizable in design, looking mostly like those of previous models. There is no degradation or discoloration in the luminous, and the original polished finish is free of oxidation or corrosion. A large screw down crown sits at the 4 o’clock position between two protruding crown guards. The case back bears the signature “Tsunami” logo at center, and the lightning bolt marking it’s Daini heritage. It’s completely original aside from a replacement mineral crystal, and a stunning example of Seiko’s fourth generation divers. The 7002 is a date only calibre, and post service, this one is keeping near perfect time. With so many examples fitted with modified and aftermarket parts, opportunities to own an untouched example in this condition are becoming increasingly rare. We’ve paired it with a heavy two-piece slate gray NATO with PVD hardware for a comfortable and versatile finish.
