1971 JDM Seiko 6139-7020 Automatic 5 Sports Speed Timer

1971 JDM Seiko 6139-7020 Automatic 5 Sports Speed Timer

$0.00

Seiko's Speed Timer roster defines great vintage racing chronographs, and as they were only produced for the Japanese market, are in much shorter supply than their export counterparts. With a 21 jewel version of the venerable 6139, these examples were definitely a step up from their 17j brethren, and boasted a few other distinct features as well. This 7020 from September of '71 is an absolute stunner. It sports a flawless matte black dial with a split, bi-color sub register in black and a vibrant royal blue. The "Speed Timer" logo sits prominently mid-dial opposite the blacked out day/date (English/Kanji) frame. The minute track is trimmed in “Speed Timer” orange, and provides the perfect break between the dial and the glossy black count down bezel which can be rotated in either direction via the crown. The outer bezel features a black enamel inlay, and the sloping tonneau case is contoured for comfort on the wrist. The case is unpolished with well defined corners, and the original “East to West” brushed finish still intact. It is completely original aside from a replacement mineral crystal, and comes attached to the original triple-hinged “Speed Timer” bracelet and “5 Sports” clasp. Post service the 6139B is keeping near perfect time, and the chronograph functions are snappy and responsive. Easily one of the cleanest examples we’ve seen, this one is sure to be a “fast” favorite in any rotation.
