1976 Seiko 6139-7069 Automatic Chronograph "Blue Eye"

1976 Seiko 6139-7069 Automatic Chronograph "Blue Eye"

$495.00

Most of the 6139 lineup features sports driven and racing styled chronographs, however, there were a few casual pieces that were no doubt memorable, and if you can find the right example, “must haves” for any true collector. This 7069 from March of ‘76 is exactly that. The case is a classic 70’s round tonneau with hooded lugs, and sharp angles. A wide beveled bezel tops the case and gives way to a matte black dial with plenty of color for contrast. The minute register sits recessed at six with silver printing, and it’s framed by the bright blue tapered border with long silver minute hashes that gives it its “Blue Eye” nickname. The hour and minute hands are tapered and polished batons with white striping to match the applied hour markers, and the chronograph hands grab attention in bold “Speed Timer” orange. The day and date reside at three, and framing the dial is a glossy black “count down” bezel that can be rotated smoothly in either direction via the crown in the neutral position. Attached is the original tapered flat “H” link bracelet for a seamless fit and finish. It is unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal and crown, and the finishes are still visibly intact. Post service, it’s keeping time to within a few seconds per day, and the chronograph functions are snappy and responsive. The day and date can be quickset by pressing the crown. Undeniable vintage appeal, with the right pop of color make this one an easy front runner on any roster.
