1970 JDM Seiko 7019-6030 Automatic 5 Sports 70m Diver

$350.00

Not to be outdone by the skillful designers at Suwa, Seiko’s Daini division unleashed a treasure trove of well thought out, and cleverly executed light sport divers in the late 60’s and into the 70’s. Chunky cases and highlights of color make them easily identifiable, and no less desirable. From March of 1970, this 7019 is a perfect example of the eye catching layouts, and hearty architecture that’s become synonymous with the Daini brand. The case is a thick cushion with partially hooded lugs, cleanly beveled edges, and a wide bezel that’s both modern and rugged. Beneath the beveled crystal is a silver sunburst dial sporting a wide horizontal black stripe through the center. Applied split bar markers house large luminous plots that have developed an ivory patina, and beveled batons count the hours and minutes. The slender sweep is golden orange, and stands out against a mostly monochrome backdrop. The day can be quick set by pressing the crown, and date by rotating the crown in the second position.  The day can be displayed in either English or Kanji (Japanese). Framing the dial is a rotating “count up” style inner bezel in black and silver with a prominent crest marker at zero. It’s completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and the 21j 7019 workhorse is keeping excellent time post service. We’ve paired it with a supple black FKM “tropic sport” for a period fit and finish that’s comfortable on the wrist. Low key presence with striking highlights make this one an easy front runner on any roster.
