Never before have we listed a single item on our website, but if one watch ever warranted to stand by itself, this is it. Whether you follow our Instagram account, or have signed up to receive our emails, you’re likely aware that this piece may be our most important acquisition to date. As mentioned in our post, we’re using the term NOS (New Old Stock) as a descriptor of its condition. It appears as though the watch was purchased at some point by an end user, but it has clearly never been worn. The warranty booklet was filled out, but it was either never picked up, or immediately stored away and forgotten. The instruction booklet is NOT included, NOR are the original hang tags, but the watch itself is perfect. As the images tell, there is not even the slightest sign of wear on the clasp or case. The original blue case back sticker is still present, though it has become thin and lost a bit of color over the last nearly 50 years of storage. The end links sit tightly against the case for a seamless transition, and the crystal and bezel look almost too good to be true. All these attributes would be exciting to use to describe any 50 year old watch, but in this case they’re describing a watch most would be happy to own in any condition. The 6001 reference number itself is fairly scarce, but attached to a NOS silver resist dial, it’s a near impossible find. We considered many avenues for bringing this watch to market, but ultimately decided to offer it here, as we’ve done with every other watch we’ve offered over the last several years. Extreme care was taken to service this watch without leaving any trace that it had been opened, but as you can see from the timegrapher read out, it is performing extremely well, and can be regularly worn. It will ship with the items mentioned above, fully insured, and with a signature requirement. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for a vintage Seiko collector, and we hope it will be as appreciated and admired in its new home as it was here.
