1977 Seiko 7025-8099 Automatic Sport Diver “Poor Man’s 62MAS”

1977 Seiko 7025-8099 Automatic Sport Diver “Poor Man’s 62MAS”

$0.00

In contrast to the colorful and at times unconventional designs of Seiko’s earlier sport diver models, this 7025-8099 from December of ‘77 is a tightly constructed classic with crisp architecture, and a stripped down aesthetic. Collector’s often refer to this model as the “Poor Man’s 62MAS” due to it’s similar dial layout and shared hands style, but once in hand (rather, on the wrist) it’s quickly apparent that this watch is no “poor man’s” anything. No, instead we’ve been given a silky smooth blend of tool and tact that’s as versatile and timeless as any diver available today. The cushion case is well appointed with original finishes and tapered lugs that flow seamlessly into the original “H-link” bracelet. It remains unpolished with crisp corners throughout, and is completely original aside from a replacement crystal. The coin edge bezel rotates smoothly in either direction, and the glossy black insert is in phenomenal condition showing only a single hairline blemish between the pip and 10. The dial is flawless in matte black with polished marker frames and a date window. The original luminous material shows no sign of aging or degradation. The polished baton hands offer clear legibility with the original luminous material perfect and completely intact. The 7025 driving the hands is a durable workhorse movement, and post service is keeping near perfect time. Finding an example of this watch in any condition is a challenge, but to own one in this condition is nearly impossible. If you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity, consider this your one knock.
