1976 Seiko 6139-8029 Automatic Chronograph “Rally”

1976 Seiko 6139-8029 Automatic Chronograph “Rally”

$0.00

Most of the 6139 lineup features sports driven and racing styled chronographs, however, there were a few casual pieces that were no doubt memorable, and if you can find the right example, “must haves” for any true collector. This 8029 from August of ‘76 is exactly that. The case features classic 1970’s styling with rolled hooded lugs, and a deep “east to west” brush finish along the top. Without a bezel, the domed acrylic is set directly into the case and gives way to a flat silver sunburst, tri-color dial. The minute register is a rich charcoal gray, and the lengthy hour markers are separated by a baby blue block minute track. The hour and minute hands are contrasting in black and white, and the chronograph hands grab attention in a fiery blaze orange. The day and date are framed in black, and the original luminous material shows no signs of degradation or discoloration. Attached is the original tapered “Rally” bracelet with a large window in the middle of each of the first three links on either side. Despite it’s unbelievable condition, there is no doubt that this is in fact the epitome of a vintage chronograph. It is unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and the factory finishes are still quite crisp. The 6139B behind the dial is just as impressive, and post service is keeping near perfect time. The chronograph functions are snappy and responsive, and on the wrist, it feels just as good as it looks.
