1975 Seiko 6139-6005 Automatic Chronograph “Pogue”

$0.00

For vintage Seiko lovers, perhaps no series is as instantly recognizable as the 6139-600X models that have become synonymous with the introduction of this historic movement. From the “Pepsi” tachymetric bezel, the the “H-Link” bracelet, they serve as the embodiment of Seiko’s efforts to deliver, with style, their first automatic chronograph. Today, these models are often referred to as, and fall under the umbrella of the “Pogue” models due to their association to Col. William Pogue and his now historic yellow dialed variant. Available in three colorways (Yellow, Silver, and Blue), it goes without saying that no matter your preference, they are all memorable in their own right and the right example would be a highlight in any collection. From May of ‘75, this one is its own highlight reel and right up their with the best examples we’ve had the opportunity to offer. The golden sunburst dial is near flawless. The hour and minute hands are free of oxidation and corrosion and have retained their original polished finish, and the original luminous material on the markers and hands is a clean soft white. The chronograph hands are bright red with no chipping or paint loss, and the inner bezel is a rich, vivid yellow with no fading from UV exposure. The case is unpolished with crisp original finishes and sharp corners. The outer tachymetric bezel in metallic red and blue shows virtually no wear or color fade. It comes attached to the original tapered “H” link bracelet with its original end links. Post service, the 6139B is keeping near perfect time, and the chronograph functions are crisp and responsive. It’s completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and a rare opportunity to own an unbelievable example of a watch that has deservedly reached “grail” status among collectors.
