Blending artistry with practicality, this versatile Daini variant brings a little something extra to the wrist. The dial is a deep metallic blue with a soft sunburst that’s been finished in a bi-color “days of the week” motif. The minute track travels through the applied markers in an eye catching, bright baby blue. The hour and minute hands are polished batons with white striping through the center, and a flat white sweep counts the seconds. Framing the dial is a black rotating inner bezel marked out so as to display the possible 31 days in each month. By rotating it to align the first day of the month to its corresponding day of the week, its quick and easy to determine on which date any other day within that month will fall. Not only is this feature quite useful, it also makes for one of the most attractive dial layouts in the Seiko catalogue. The case is a slim tonneau with hooded lugs, a flat bezel, and a contoured and tapered bevel along each side. It features two crowns, one at three o’clock for time and date setting, and a second larger crown at  two o’clock for rotating the date ring. It’s unpolished and completely original including a NOS Seiko replacement crystal, and post service is keeping near perfect time. The date can be quickset via the crown, and the day semi-quickset. The calendar bezel rotates smoothly in either direction with a pull of the upper crown, and can be “locked” by firmly pressing the crown after setting. We’ve paired it with a smooth grain, light brown leather that nicely contrasts the dial and offers a versatile and comfortable finish. A beautiful blend of form and function, it’s sure to be a fast favorite in any rotation.
