1969 Seiko 7005-8030 Automatic

1969 Seiko 7005-8030 Automatic

From Seiko’s Daini division, this 7005-8030 from July of ‘69 is a casual stunner packed with vintage appeal and fetching details. The case is classic Seiko styling. Rather than stand alone lugs, its as if case material were removed from a solid piece to create space for a strap. A slight bevel on either side of the case adds great depth, and a thin flat bezel is a perfect frame for the dial. And what a dial it is! In place of hour markers, the lacquered silver sunburst is trimmed in a series of overlapping crosshairs that create a star pattern. Providing perfect balance to the date aperture at 3, the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock markers are large framed windows with thick luminous plots. The hands are broad polished batons, and like the hour markers, the luminous material has developed an even creamy patina. The 7005 movement is a workhorse calibre built to last and, post service, its keeping near perfect time. Paired with a light brown distressed leather strap, this is a perfect casual vintage timepiece that’s wrist and compliment ready.
