1967 Seiko 6220-8000 "Skyliner" (Manual Wind)

1967 Seiko 6220-8000 "Skyliner" (Manual Wind)

Seiko's Skyliner series saw nearly a decade of continuous production as one of the brand's more memorable mid-century offerings. These manually wound, three-handers featured clean designs, thinner profiles, and mesmerizing dials without the imbalance of a date aperture. This example from November of ‘65 features a striking silvery white sunburst dial with a slick lacquered finish, and a steeply set chapter ring trimmed in a delicate minute track. The polished applied markers and dauphine hands add effortless sophistication and ease of legibility. The case has great lines with a continuous linear bevel at the outer edge. The bezel has a nicely cornered edge, and still sports the factory radial finish. The hand wound 6220 is a 21 jewel workhorse thats keeping near perfect time post service.  We've paired it with a dark brown distressed leather to give this vintage classic just the right touch of modern refinement.
